Dog Collar Size Guide: Neck Measurements & Fit
Use this dog collar size guide to choose the right collar size for your dog. The chart below shows Hughies collar sizes in centimetres, including neck fit, collar width and adjustment.
Measure around the part of your dog’s neck where the collar will normally sit, keeping the tape comfortably snug. You should be able to fit two fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck once fitted.

How to measure
Measure your dog’s neck with a soft tape measure where the collar will sit. Keep the tape close to the neck without pulling it tight.
If you are measuring an existing collar instead, measure from the buckle pin to the hole your dog normally wears.
If your dog falls between two sizes, choose the size that gives you the most useful adjustment range.
About the fit
Each Hughies collar has 5 adjustment holes, giving you flexibility as your dog’s fit changes slightly.
The collar width increases with size so the proportions remain comfortable and balanced:
- XS: 15 mm
- S–M: 20 mm
- L: 25 mm
Because each collar is handmade, there may be a very small variation in the finished measurement.
