Bandana Care Guide
Keep your Hughies dog bandana looking its best with simple, gentle care. Our bandanas are handmade in London using carefully chosen sustainable fabrics, with upcycled or reclaimed fabrics used in selected designs. Every bandana is also finished with a small Hughies label that I make by hand from salvaged leather reclaimed from unwanted sofas.
How to wash your dog bandana
- Remove the bandana from your dog before washing.
- Hand wash in cool or warm water.
- Use a mild detergent and wash colours separately if you are unsure about colourfastness.
- Avoid bleach and harsh stain removers.
- Gently reshape while damp and air-dry flat.
- Do not tumble dry.
Ironing and everyday care
If needed, iron the fabric on a low heat. Keep the iron away from poppers, other hardware and embroidery. The Hughies label is handmade from salvaged sofa leather, so do not iron it or apply heat directly to it.
Between washes, shake off loose dirt and spot-clean small marks with a damp cloth. Always check the bandana, stitching and fastenings for wear before putting it back on your dog.
Bandana safety
Make sure the bandana fits comfortably and is not too tight. You should be able to slide two fingers between the bandana and your dog’s neck. Do not leave your dog unsupervised while wearing a bandana.
A note about handmade and natural variations
Different fabrics can behave differently in washing. Some colour transfer or slight shrinkage can occasionally happen, particularly with natural, reclaimed or strongly coloured fabrics. Following the care instructions above will help protect your bandana. Hughies cannot accept responsibility for colour bleeding, shrinkage, accidental damage or problems caused by incorrect measuring or care.
